First Aid & Emergency Procedures
- At least one staff member present will hold an up-to-date first aid qualification.
- A first aid kit will be available at all sessions.
- The club will record accidents/injuries in an accident book (retained for 3 years).
- Parents will be informed of injuries at the end of a session (minor) or immediately (serious).
- At competitions, first aid provision will be arranged by Scottish Gymnastics.
- Coaches must be familiar with fire and emergency procedures at each venue.
Behaviour During Training & Competitions
All members are expected to behave in a professional and respectful manner during training, competitions, fundraising and club events.
Gymnast Behaviour Procedure
- 1st and 2nd offence: verbal warning.
- 3rd offence: gymnast sits out for a period of time, with explanation.
- Parents informed by the coach.
- Ongoing issues escalated to the Head Coach, Committee and Safeguarding Officer.
- Removal from the club is a last resort, decided jointly by the Head Coach, SO and Committee.
WDGC Complaints Procedure
- Making a Complaint
- Submit in writing with details, dates and witnesses.
- Safeguarding concerns → Safeguarding Officer at safeguarding.wdgc@gmail.com.
- Other complaints → Chairperson/Club Secretary.
- Responding
- Acknowledge receipt within 7 working days.
- Gather evidence and interview all parties.
- Records signed and dated.
- Review
- Evidence reviewed by Safeguarding Officer and an additional or independent person.
- Decision
- For minor breaches (e.g. coach conduct), appropriate action taken such as caution, retraining, or written warning.

WDGC Arrival & Sign-Out Policy
- Parents/guardians must bring gymnasts into the hall and ensure they are signed in.
- Coaches are not responsible until the session officially begins.
- At the end of a session, gymnasts must be signed out and collected by a responsible adult.
WDGC Abandoned Child Policy
- After 15 minutes: contact parent/guardian.
- After 30 minutes: contact police to raise awareness.
- After 45 minutes: if still uncollected, child will be legally transferred to police care.
- Legal care can only be transferred to police, social services, or the child’s legal parent/guardian.
